Survey report on understanding the safety and efficacy of alkaline reduced water

Abstract

|
Drinking alkaline reduced water (ARW) has been suggested to be beneficial for human health, but the safety and effect is still to be investigated. In this study, personal tendency and awareness on the safety and effectiveness of ARW were surveyed from total 190 participants who have experiences of drinking ARW. Sixty eight percent of the respondents said that drinking plenty of water is helpful for keeping good health, and 65% of the respondents said that they believe that the type of drinking water is related to health. Eighty three percent of the respondents said that they know the way of producing ARW. All of the respondents said that the characteristics and effect of ARW are different from other kinds of waters. As regarding to the safety of ARW, 83% of the respondents said that daily drinking of ARW is safe, but 2% of the respondents doubtful. Also, 95% of the respondents said that drinking ARW long time is beneficial for health, but 2% of the respondents said that it is harmful. As regarding to the effect of ARW, 94% of the respondents said that ARW is effective on diseases, and 3% of the respondents said that they had experienced side effects such as rash,dissiness, or intestinal trouble. Eighty two respondents said that they had experienced ARW effects such as atopic dermatitis(20), gatrointestinal disease(15), diabetes(11), constipation(7), dermatitis(5), hypertension(5), arthritis(5), obesity(4) and other ailments(10). For the health of people drinking ARW, the objective verification on the safety and effect of ARW have to surely be performed. This result may be useful for educational reference for the understaning of ARW, but a long term follow-up studies are required in future.
